I did this project on an hour long conference call. It was super simple, the hardest part for me was figuring out the layout I wanted and getting my measurements down.
I was putting the dishes away at the start of the call and I couldn’t stand putting my silverware in a big pile in the drawer anymore. The drawers in this kitchen are incredibly narrow, they do not hold a standard silverware tray. So I decided I was going to make my own!
HOW TO
- Measure Drawer
- Create layout on ground with painters tape (or anything you have lying around to make the shape)
- Arrange silverware / items how you want them in the drawer
- Measure out space needed for each slot (see sketch below)
- Cut poplar wood to measurements
- Sand edges
- Glue wood pieces together
- Insert into drawer & put your pieces in!
TOOLS
- Poplar Wood (.25 x 1.5 x 36″ ) , I used three 36″ pieces for this project
- Hand Saw / Circular / Jig … any saw
- Fine Grit Sand Paper (really any you have on hand, I had 220 and it did the job)
- Wood Glue
